25 Days of Christmas – Fun-filled Activities Countdown

1st December  – Christmas Official Countdown

Find a creative fun way to countdown the 24 days of Christmas. This way you will be in a jolly holiday mood throughout the holiday season. If you are with the family, make it a group activity and share the holiday cheer, say example a holiday scavenger hunt or competition of some sort or movies to watch. If you are spending the Christmas solo, find an activity based advent calendar and let the Christmas countdown begin.

2nd December  – Movie Night

You can finally binge-watch movies without feeling guilty. The timing couldn’t have been better, it is the holiday and all. You are stuck on what to watch? look no further because on the 2nd day of Blogmas, MissKymmiee Lately will be sharing with you 12 Must watch Christmas Movies with trailers because I love you that much.

3rd December – Christmas Tree Decoration.

If you haven’t bought a Christmas tree, it’s not too late, everybody gets the holiday goosebumps differently. If it was my choice, I could have it up all year long, but that’s just me. So take the time after work if you are still caught up or during the day if you are free and get into tree decoration. Come up with a theme that you will enjoy. If you have kids, think something like a superhero theme and decorate away.

4th December – Christmas Playlist

Take the time and get into holiday mood by making a list of your favorite Christmas songs and carols. Find the best version of each song, and create a Christmas playlist. Then, listen to your playlist from the 1st of December to the 25th and sing along, because where is the fun in listening alone. Stuck on where to begin? Include perennial favorites, such as these linked below:

5th December – Have a Christmas Treasure Hunt

If this is not in your family traditions, you need to incorporate it yesterday. Spice up gift giving in the family and make the family members search for their gift. They will definitely enjoy the gift a lot more, that and allowing you a great laugh.

Hide one gift for each family member, and then come up with a series of clues to help them find their gifts. Here’s an example:

  • Clue #1 leads them to the cookie jar in the kitchen, which contains Clue #2.
  • Clue#2 leads to them to the lamp on the coffee table; #3 is under the lamp.
  • Clue #3 leads them to the plant by the entrance;  #4 hidden among the leaves of the plant.
  • Clue #4 leads them to the closet in the den.
  • The gifts are hidden in the closet.

6th December – Play Secret Santa.

I honestly enjoy a good excuse for giving gifts. If you are with family/ friends or colleagues all you have to do is write all your names on a piece of paper and shuffle them up, each member gets to pick one name and whoever they pick they then become their secret Santa. Depending on whether they have been naughty or nice, Santa then gets them a gift on Christmas eve or the morning of Christmas.

7th December – Host a Themed Party.

Find a way to host it on a weekend so that more people are able to attend, remember the more the merrier. Make the party more interesting by adding a dress code to match the theme of the part. Additionally, the best dressed and worst dressed could win a price, this will add more edge towards the party.

8th December – An Open Letter

Take the time and write a gratitude letter of all the good, the bad and the worst things that you feel you have endured. Writing it all down gives you an open perspective to see, that in other instances, it could have been worse and for that, we are reminded to be thankful.

9th December – Donate to Charity

Take the time and be kind to the needy this holiday season. Help the less fortunate, be the reason they smile this Christmas holiday. Find a charity near your place or office and donate the extra things you don’t need or go the extra mile and send them unused stuff, be a Santa in skinny jeans.

10th December – Christmas Shopping

If you haven’t done Christmas shopping, a good two weeks away is all you are left with. Take the time and finalize all the Christmas shopping. When you can, you can also host a gift wrapping party and easily get the job completed with your friends or family.

11th December – Detox from Social Media

Take time off from the social media and stay in the moment. Enjoying your own happiness bubble and alone time. This will give you a clearer mindset, a better perspective on things and even better allowing you to actually have an actual holiday. Yes, if it wasn’t on the gram, it still happened,

12th December – Bake

From cookies, bread, and cakes. the list is endless really. Take time and enjoy some good old baking. It doesn’t have to be perfect, just make sure you are having a great time, that’s all that matters. Save a batch for your friends or co-workers and share with them as a Christmas token.

13th December – Volunteer

Be a part of your community and give back in terms of volunteering. This could be in a church, old home or orphanage. Go spread the Christmas cheer with the less fortunate, touch someone’s life this Christmas.

14th December – Christmas Trivia

Well if you have already wished me a happy birthday then feel free to enjoy the trivia, Ha!

Get the family together and play Christmas trivia. Here are some sample questions:

  • What are the names of the three wise men said to have brought gifts to the baby Jesus?
  • What are the three gifts which are mentioned being given by the wise men?
  • Which animals does the Bible say were present at Jesus’ birth?

15th December – Attend a Performance of The Christmas Carol.

This was one of my favorite tradition growing up. I totally enjoy the performances. If you have never been to a Christmas carols performance, I dare say you are missing out, but it is not too late to start now.

16th December – Have a karaoke Night

Consider giving yourself or a loved one a karaoke machine as a Christmas gift. Open the gift early, stock up on Christmas karaoke music, and have a Christmas karaoke night. You can also choose to rent a karaoke machine or visit a karaoke bar. The latter being more adventurous.

17th December – Have a Spa Day

Take time to take care of yourself. The holiday can be a stressful time, so dedicate a day for total relaxation and be in your zen. Go for a massage, manicure or pedicure. Even better, host your friends and enjoy a girls spa day out.

18th December – Game night

A fun bonding experience and a reason to spread merry vibes and cheer all around. Invite friends or play amongst family member. From board games to scavenger hunts, the list is endless really.

19th December – Design old school cards

Remember the times of actual box cards, well dive into your creativity and design fun cards to share with your family members and friends. Trust me, they will love it more because it will be extremely personal.

20th December – Attend a local event

Be it Christmas lighting ceremony or a ball. Go out and experience the joy of Christmas. Depending on where you are, local traditions vary and always remember to be mindful and respectful of other people’s traditions.

21st December – Go for a staycation

If you haven’t traveled for the holiday. A staycation seems like a good idea because it will give you the home away from home vibe. If you could check in a hotel even better, if you can’t a sleepover at a relative or friend is also acceptable.

22nd December – Host A Brunch

If you are just joining my blog then you should know I am a huge Brunch advocate, so this point shouldn’t come as a surprise to you. Invite people over and have a reason to drink mimosa at 11 am.

23rd December – Come up with new family traditions

There is always a room to incorporate new family tradition. Sometimes, we create them out of necessity, whatever your reasons are, set room for new Christmas traditions to be passed down for generations to come.
