” Get up, Slay up, Show Up. Never ever Settle, because the sky is not the limit but a point of view.” A Mantra

Hey, Lately Fam!

I will be honest with you, this post was so unintentional. It wasn’t the post that was meant to go up today. However, since we are talking about A Day in the Life of Blogger, I will let you in a little secret. As you will soon find out if you haven’t already, I am a fulltime blogger who happens to have an actual 8-5 pm job. I had to a work call over the weekend – Saturday which is never the case. That ended up killing most of my Saturday, and I spent the other half of the day shopping – (This was on my agenda). Which meant I was only left with Sunday on my corner.

Unfortunately (Fortunately really) I have been working around spicing and revamping this entire website. So Sunday seemed like the best day to mess around with all the coding. Honestly, this is not my typical Day in the Life of Blogger, but I was up at around 7.30 working on the website till 5 pm. All this time I had a sandwich. No am not complaining, am just showing you how I get lost doing what I love.  Am pleased with the whole change I made and how I was able to inject a huge chunk of my personality including a dedicated part for my Lately fam.

As I was trying to explain with this very long introduction, the Day in the Life of Blogger was unplanned because I didn’t get time to write this weekend. So I thought rather than showing up here with half-baked ideas backed by little to no research or worse skip posting entirely tomorrow. I would rather go off the schedule and write from the heart. Which brings us to A Day in the Life of Blogger, after the very long and detailed intro.

I had shared a day in the Life of a blogger a little over a year ago up on my YouTube channel. A year later, I would like to say a few bits have changed but I will be lying. Everything has changed, for the better part of it, I hope. I will need to do an updated version of that once I find a balance and include YouTube in the mix, but for now, let’s do it the old fashion way, I write and you read about it. Sounds like a plan?

A Day in the Life of Blogger

6.30 AM

This is the time when I wake up. Honestly and to my dismay, I have tried and failed to wake up at 6 am. Okay, maybe not failed, but I haven’t found an urge to jump out at 6, this has more to do with missing a functioning home office at the moment.  After waking up, I say a word of prayer and get out of bed, open my windows and take my phone – No not social media, I promise. The best new thing I have incorporated lately is listening to motivational speakers. From spiritual to life philosophy, you name it. This just gives me the extra kick before my morning coffee.

6.40 AM

I Head for the bathroom to shower or sometimes make my bed then go to the shower. It’s an either-or kind of situation with this. After the shower, in most cases, I have my outfit for the day already planned and prepped from last night as I would share later in the day. I dress up and this is roughly taking me 10, 15 minutes max.

7.00 AM

Give or take around this time, I jump into my en-suite bathroom to look shooed, okay maybe just presentable enough for work. I have totally mastered my morning makeup routine to under 15 mins when am extra but usually, 10 mins will do the trick. Do my eyebrows, which thank God I have perfected the arc, so no cleanings necessary. I apply foundation, a little under eye concealer, eyeliner, powdered face, and a nude lip. This has become my go-to signature look. It’s my version of the nomake-up -make-up look

If I had not made the bed, this would be the time. I make my bed and tidy up the bathroom and the bedroom. I am always thankful to come to the end of the day after work and I am greeted by a clean organized room.

7.30 AM

On great timed days, I head for the kitchen around this time to make my breakfast. I have become accustomed to the a-go-to sandwich. The only difference would be the toppings. I do a lot of meal preps lately, so I am accountable with eating healthy even when am not home. I will take whatever meal for the day tI prepared and froze and warm it in the microwave. Meanwhile am toasting two slices of brown bread, frying one egg – sunny side and chopping some ingredients. I assemble it all and pack it in airtight containers.

This takes me, give or take 10 mins.

7.45 AM

Around this time, my tri-cycle (commonly know as a Bajaji in Tanzania) comes to pick me up and drops me at my 8 to 5 job. I have been fortunate enough, as previously shared on Misskymmiee Lately, to get a house 5 mins from home. Yes, I know what you are thinking, if its 5 minutes why do you need to be driven, its 5 minutes by car and about 12 minutes walking. I would rather not do the latter.

Am always at work at ten to 8, giving me ample time to settle in.

8.00 AM

First thing after arriving in the office, is head to the kitchen to get me a fresh brew of coffee before am a functioning human. Sit on my desk and have my breakfast. My breakfast would look something like below.

  • Instant coffee
  • 2 toasted Brown slices of bread
  • Lettuce leave
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1/2 Tomato
  • 1/4 Avocado
  • Instant coffee, 2 sugars, and a splash of milk
  • Salt & pepper

This breakfast is roughly 300 Kcal and it usually leaves me satisfied enough for at least 4 hours.

8.15 – 1.00 AM

At this time, as its now obvious that I work outside blogging. I will get all my regular wonder woman pants and kick ass in the office. Attend meetings, do a bit of account, see clients, do sells, sit in meetings, correspond in meetings, run errands and everything in between.

Between this time until lunch break, I make sure I have drunk not less than 3 liters of water. It includes lots of toilet breaks but I don’t mind really.

0100 PM

Lunchtime! Whoop whoop. I have survived the better part of the morning. Which is usually packed, longer and the busiest part of my day. I head downstairs for fresh air, change of scenery and have lunch. Sometimes, I have it on my desk, which has become my thing lately. I will have lunch while I finalize work or read, watch a YouTube video or write. It’s my 1 hour of balance for the day. For today I had

  • One Pot Vegetable macaroni and Minced meat – 1 Cup full
  • sautéed coconut cauliflower.

My lunch is 350 Kcal give or take.

2.00 – 5.00 PM

My second half of the day involves finalizing work from the morning and push the rest to the next day if they require a lot of work and patience. I usually leave my afternoon with simpler tasks. Because, if it’s not obvious am a morning person and I am more productive at such times.

I keep up with my water intake and aim for another 3 liters before 5.00 and lots of toilet breaks.

5.00 PM

The Wonderwoman cape comes off and the bawse mode is on. My workday has officially ended. I am usually back home around 5.20 on good days. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I get back home only to head out for an hour ten minutes run at 5.30 pm. I usually cover between 10 to 11 km per run. The aim is to run 30 km every week. I take breaks on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is a new change in my evening routine and I’m 3 weeks in loving every sweat part of this journey.

07.00 PM

Phew, back from the run and it was exhaustive, believe me. I head for the kitchen and chug at least half a liter of water. then, head for a much-needed cold shower. Afterward, I sort out what I want to wear for the next day. (If I haven’t done this on Sunday) Then if am hungry, which in most cases I am never thanks to the water chugged. But on rare occasions that am beat after the run, I  usually make myself a light snack.  This could vary from a fruit smoothie to a sandwich or both. Otherwise, intermittent fasting begins for me, as I had shared on my dealing with weight gain post.

08.00 PM

I iron my clothes for tomorrow and get in bed to work (As I don’t have a functioning home office or sitting room yet.) After that I could either be writing a post in advance, (like I am doing this one) editing pics for the blog, creating an email opt-in or reading and researching up on the inter-webs. I give this a good 4 hours.

0000

Its bedtime for Kymmiee. I try to sleep earlier anytime that I can. But with work and bawse mode always on the go, sometimes a girl needs 6.5 hours of sleep to build her empire.

That’s it Lately fam, A Day in the Life of Blogger in my take. This is a weekday version. My weekend tends to vary from this. Let me know if you would love to see that and I will whip you a post soon enough. I had so much fun re-living my day with you and actually recognizing my functioning routine. Thank you for stopping by, hope to see more of you soon.

Do share with me your daily routine below, How does my Lately Fam do it?

By for now.
