“You are not going to master the rest of your life in one day. Master the day, then just keep doing that Everyday.”
Hope you find your Mojo!
How to Get Your Mojo Back – Where have I Been? Its been a long time. Well that’s an understatement. By long time I mean today is 23rd February and am just posting my 3rd Post in a month. For a person who usually post 12 times a month this says a lot about me. Where have I been? You must have wandered. Why am I just posting my 3rd post just now? Looking at the title you must have noticed something is up? no? Well Something has definitely been wrong on my Part, to a point I almost shut down the blog entirely because it just didn’t seem to work out…
As always am getting ahead of myself so lets take a trip down, Before all hell broke loose shall we?
So around December last year, I decided to get the SSL for my Website (Secure Sockets Layer) it’s the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. I wont even bother you with technical details. So in plain english it’s how you notice the secure padlock thingy (Sometimes written in Green words Secure or sometimes a padlock icon) next to a web address when you log in (on the PC). So if you have the SSL then your site is technically secured, more trust-worthy and in-turn liable to more SEO Juice and if not well the opposite is expected plus a huge warning next to your site saying unsecure or an exclamation mark.
Since I have always believed myself to be an IT graduate, self-taught of course. I decided to embark on the SSL Adventure, it all worked great till I fucked up my entire website, not me exactly, more like the technical side of the codes and what not and that made my website not get indexed anymore. From 100s of views and unique visitors a day to like 2 the next. I felt the bile in my stomach, my work wasn’t getting any traction and worse nothing seemed to fix it. I tried and tried and tried some more jumping between Technicians at BlueHost and the guys at WordPress for about a month. And boy it was not the easiest time, I pulled my hair and cursed like a million times.
Long story short am back and everything is back to normal and all is secured, Thank you to Happiness the technician at WordPress. It almost felt like a part of me had died and now my traction are back I feel like it’s a 2nd chance at life, no exaggerations. Now that we have caught up, How about some Quick Friday Blogging 101 tips on How to Get Your Mojo Back
How to Get Your Mojo Back
1.Back to the roots.
Go back to the beginning of it all, to the Whys of blogging. I have talked about why having the Whys is quite important on the Blog and this is just one of the many reasons why. This will give you the mental juice to get you going. If you had started a fashion blog for the sharing your ideas and looks on fashion then you will get a mental reminder, it could be educating others on something you are passionate about or maybe just entertaining and sharing your personality with the world. This little reminders can take you a step further on How to Get Your Mojo Back.
2.Get out of Routine.
A lot of routine can get you juiced out. Step out of it all ever so often. Color outside the lines. Where heels to McDonald’s, or an evening game to a football match just anything as long as you keep doing you, having fun in the process, making mistakes, learning from them and allowing your ideas, personality and creativity shine and thrive through. The key is in trusting the process.and eventually your Mojo will bounce back.
3. SEEK INSPIRATION.
Sometimes a Blogger’s Block can be cured with something as easy as INSPIRATION. it can be easy or hard however depending on your inspiration and ability to let your mind wander. Being in a creative industry requires a lot of creativity, because let’s be honest. Everything has been said and done. This is why two individuals can do the same exact thing but one will flourish and the other well squander. This is why personal creativity and authenticity is Key and this are a byproduct of personal Inspirations and delivery. You have to be in search of inspiration from everything in life. If your imaginary friends won’t talk to you, You have to start the chatter. Here is a few ways to do it.
- Go on Pinterest this works for me about every single time. (Including today’s post)
- Go for a walk to clear your head. Sometimes the best ideas come to you when you’re away from your computer.
- Spend 20 minutes meditating. Ask your intuition for idea and insights to share.
- Listen to music. – Most often inspiration is lacking because you’re not feeling creative. Listening to music can tap into your creative side quickly.
- Do something fun.
- Visit other relevant blogs. Read the news. Read a magazine. There are inspiring content ideas everywhere.
4. Having a Creative Buffer.
This does not necessarily fall in line with the traditional meaning of a buffer. This is more or less a content Buddy. A person who motivates you, challenges you and inspires you to be the better version of yourself. This would be a person who devotes time to listen to you and offer you helpful solutions, or it could be a person in the same industry or Niche with you that would totally get your struggle. Having such a person buffing up and offering you positive energy will help you bounce back in your Mojo in no time.
5.TAKE A BREAK
When all hell seem to have gone lose. Sometimes you need a breather as the last guns. Am not saying, “The-pack-your-bags-book-a-plane-to-New-York-Call-a-taxi-go-to-the-airport-burn-your-house-kinda-Breather.” Okay that was EXTRA Ha! but I think the point hit home run. Sometimes you need to step out and take a break from it all. This will do your blog more good than Harm. But again, this could escalade quite quickly, if you have an extended break and eventually never getting back. So if you think you need to take a break, do it and get back rejuvenated as ever with even better content and have a specific “Break period” It shouldn’t be more than a month in my professional take or blogging back would feel strange and you would lose the crowd..
Does the last point a little too familiar? It should. See the related post, Blogger’s Block and 10 Ways on How to Overcome It for more talks with MissKymmiee. I would love to get your thoughts on How to Get Your Mojo Back? What do you do? sound it below. Till then Have a great weekend.
