How to Style a Little Black Dress.
No wardrobe is complete without a Little Black dress, they are the “popular girls” of the outfit category. Think of it as a blank canvas to showcase your style and personality. Little Black Dresses are the most functional and versatile outfit, a close second or a tie at this point to denim and a classic white shirt, I would dare say. Don’t get me started on the color – it’s universal and that being said, it compliments every skin tone. It’s an all-weather outfit. During summer, slay it as is and a few accessories and you are good to go. It’s winter? no problem, pair it with some stockings, boots and a leather jacket. Like I said, this is a must-have piece in your closet and just like the title says, I am sharing all my secret tips on How to Style a Little Black Dress.

How to Style a Little Black Dress – Street Style Edition
Shoe Choice
Focusing on How to Style a Little Black Dress on the Street Style Edition side of things. The shoe is what really brings the look to play. One thing that needs to be playing at the back of your mind is that you are aiming for that effortless Laid back cool model-off-duty look. Your best bet would be opting for either sneakers, flats or slides. Wedges are a confused mix so if you can, totally skip them for the street style. This is always my go-to tip when I want to look dressy but not intentional. I alternate between the two flats and sneakers. Speakers being the more dresser version of the two.
Accessorize
Do I even have to break this down for you Lately Fam? I think not because if you have been an avid reader then you know am all about that accessorizing life, to a point that I self-proclaimed myself the Accessory queen. Here is a fun style tip, even a dressy dress can be dressed down with the right accessories – and shoes of course. Wait, that didn’t make sense, What’s a dressy dress? Ha! this is the kind that you would wear on a date night. I wore this particular dress on a date a date night a while ago and paired it with my trusted Steve Madden sandals and a Leather Jacket. The two effortless transformed the same dress that I am now dressing down. Layering is Essential.
You know the quote, “Fashion can be Bought, and well, Style is Something you must possess?” Yeah, that quote was definitely made for this particular point. Layering is what will give your entire outfit a style edge. If you wear a plain black dress, there is nothing special about that look, but layering in a blazer, jacket or plaid shirt…Well, things just begin to look interesting now. Your outfit is supposed to work for you not against you. So remember this time the next time you go shopping or style a Little Black Dress. If you have the longest legs or an amazing Thigh gap, a mini Little black dress is for you. If you have a smaller waist, accentuate it by belting or tie-around the third piece, could be a shirt or jacket, If you have the hour-glass figure, well stunt in a bodycon. Long neck? no problem, opt for an off-shoulder. Sexy back? go backless for a change – The list goes on an on and the styling ideas follow the same route.
Go Monochromatic
One word, Best-invention-in-the-fashion-world, I still am calling it one word because I hyphenated the whole sentence. I am living for this look, a color Monochrome is one thing but a Black Monochromatic, well, seems like a fashion jackpot to me. This style tip is Clean, Minimalistic, edgy, effortless and above it all, a Celebrity style steal in my book. A color-coded monochrome is a look but an all black Monochromatic look, now that’s a winner. I could go on and on Honey! It doesn’t get much more flattering than a single-hued look. Take it from numerous constantly photographed celebrities (And me) – Plug alert.
Pop Of Color
An all Black Monochromatic look is not for you? Well throw in a color pop and be on your merry way. If I am not out on a black dress, leather jacket and black slides, then you will definitely spot me in a Little Black Dress, a layering piece and some sneakers of some sort – Today we are giving the all-white sneakers a turn in the streets. White sneakers are high key overlooked but a definitely a sneaker must-have in the closet. Stunt in your little black dress and add in a pop of color and turn a head or twenty. From Nail polish, Red lippie to killer footwear.
